Mr. Smith has been the president and an co-owner of Alhouse Deaton since 2001 and a real estate professional since 1981. He is responsible for the oversight of the company¢__Ô_æ¢s day-to-day operations, the company's third-party management portfolio and the acquisition of real estate assets for the company's investment portfolio.
During his time with Alhouse Deaton, Mr. Smith has grown the company from a single office Palo Alto firm to a San Francisco Bay Area firm, opening offices in San Mateo, San Francisco and Contra Costa counties. He oversees the business and management operations of the company's Bay Area offices. and heads the acquisitions of the company's real estate investments. Mr. Smith also focuses on client relations, business development and capital funding.
Prior to joining Alhouse Deaton in 2001, Mr. Smith was a senior vice president with Jones Lang LaSalle's Capital Markets Group and the affiliated companies from 1990 to 2001. Mr. Smith opened the CMG's San Francisco office and specialized in the execution of disposition assignments throughout the country. He also arranged structured finance transactions for acquisitions and development projects as well as spearheading client relations and business development of new assignments. Clients included Bank of America, Bayview Federal Bank, Copley Realty Advisors, Crown Life, New England Mutual Life and Sun Life of Canada. Mr. Smith has extensive experience in repositioning assets through effective management and execution of business strategies to maximize the value of the asset.
After graduating from Stanford University in 1979 with a BA in Economics, Mr. Smith became an investment broker with the Financial Services Division at Cushman & Wakefield from 1981 to 1990. He was responsible for the execution of dispositions assignments throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as well as leasing of office and industrial space for selected clients.
